Arrow Films is delighted to announce that it
will be handling the sales and distribution, across both Digital and Physical,
of the highly acclaimed and respected world cinema label Second Run, in Arrow’s
first deal of this type.
The Second Run catalogue is rich and diverse,
celebrating unique voices in cinema from undiscovered pioneers to the auteurs
of today. The catalogue numbers boast over 100 titles and on 14th March
2016 Second Run will release their first Blu-ray title, Horse Money, under the new Arrow deal.
“This
is a great opportunity for Arrow to be able to represent one of the finest and
considered labels in the UK. I have been a long-time admirer of Second Run for
its curated approach to distribution, its distinct brand and for its many
accolades and awards it collects each year. We are excited to be able to
represent Second Run’s rich catalogue at this special point in time for the
company”. Alex
Agran, MD, Arrow Films.
“In
beginning our second decade as an independent label, I feel that Second Run is
really fortunate to have found a company such as Arrow Films to represent our
sales and distribution. In the past few
years Arrow have, with their focus, choice of films and the effort and care
they take in presenting their work in the best possible editions, become
amongst the very top labels for the discerning cinephile.
Arrow’s
whole-hearted acceptance and understanding of a deeply-curated label such as
Second Run, having even released films from Second Run’s own wish-list that I
never expected anyone else to want to release, clearly shows me that we will be
in good and caring hands. I really hope and believe that this alliance with
Arrow will provide us with more opportunity and a wider reach for our films and
the filmmakers we work with and that result is, at its heart, exactly what
Second Run exists to try and do.
As a
totally independent label, it has also given us the confidence to make our
first foray into Blu-ray with the release in March of Pedro Costa’s
award-winning and extraordinary film Horse Money.
All
this makes the next ten years of Second Run even more exciting to contemplate”.
Mehelli

About Second Run
Founded in 2005
with a passion to present lost classic and contemporary gems of world cinema,
Second Run’s releases encompass many genres and languages. The labels catalogue
is a personal selection reflecting significant films which they love and feel
passionate about sharing with others.
They have been
instrumental in introducing and making available to UK audiences - often for
the very first time - the works of great filmmakers such as Miklós Jancsó,
František Vláčil and Věra Chytilová. Their ever-evolving catalogue (currently
at over 100 titles) also boasts works by filmmakers as diverse as Andrzej
Wajda, Nicolas Philibert, Miloš Forman, Pedro Costa, Andrzej Żuławski, Lisandro
Alonso, Kryzsztof Zanussi, Yorgos Lanthimos, and Cannes Palme d'Or winner
Apichatpong Weerasethakul among them.
It was always
Second Run's intention to be part of a cinephile community who care for, seek,
discuss, present and watch such films - and now more than 10 years later Second
Run have found themselves at the forefront of presenting rare and hard-to-see
films from around the world to a dedicated and ever-appreciative UK and
international audience.
